Nana's Chocolate Chip Cookies

My mom makes great Chocolate Chip Cookies. It is my Grandma Leah's recipe and they as so so yummy.
My sweet niece Shelby and her friend wanted to make some. So of course Layton and Parker needed to help out :)

A lot of dough was eaten. But in the end a few cookies made it out of the oven :)

here is the recipe:

Nana's Chocolate Chip Cookies

cream together-

2 c. brown sugar

1. c. white sugar

4 eggs

2 c. shortening

2 t. vanilla

after that is mixed well, add-

2 t. baking soda

1 t. salt

then gradually add-

4 1/2 c. flour

after it is all mixed add-

2 c. chocolate chips

1 c. chopped walnuts (you don't have to add the nuts... but they won't taste as good :)

Drop spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 min. When they are done take the cookie sheet out of the oven and hold it about 6 inches above the counter. Then drop it! It gives the cookies the cracks on the top, and I think makes a big differencfe in the taste (more chewy, I think) Cool on a wire rack.

Try them today! You will be in love.

Once there was a snowman...

I just got the boy's new snow clothes for this winter. So when it snowed a few days ago Layton was super excited about putting on his snow stuff to go play in it. Parker was napping and Layton hadn't ever built a snowman before. Last year I bought a cute snowman kit, but we never used it.

So, out we went to build a snowman.

We did snow angels too.

My hands and feet on the left, Layton's on the right. He thought it was super neat to make our hand and foot prints like that.

We had such a fun afternoon. I love you Layton!

Brief Moments...

Every once in a while, in the middle of all the fighting and crying. I get a few brief moments of quiet. Where the boys play together and no one is hurting anyone...

"a do"

Parker is just the sweetest little boy. Every time I put him in his car seat and start doing up his buckles he says "a do" (translation: I want to do it myself). And he works and works until he gets his buckle done up. He is always so proud of himself afterwards.

trying . . .

trying . . .

Success!!! (look at his little pleased smile :)

Discovery Toys!!!

My sweet Mom has just started selling Discovery Toys. It is sooooo not like her to join into any of these programs. She just really believes in these toys (plus we were all buying so much from a different lady that it only made sense :)
They are the cutest, my boys will choose these toys before any others. They are ALWAYS the favorites. They have a lifetime warranty, and every single one is fun but also teaches a lot of different skills.
There is something for everyone, from brand new babies to 12 year olds (there are even a few that are super fun for adults on game nights!)

So OF COURSE I am hosting a party!!!

It will be next Tuesday, November 17th at 7:00 pm

This is such a great chance to get some Christmas shopping done!!!

Please come and bring a friend. I swear they will thank you.

Any questions, call me at 435-743-4628

Hope to see you all there.

Playing in the Leaves

I have been feeling super guilty that fall will be over soon and I don't have any pictures of my boys in the leaves. So while we were at the park today the boys started playing, and I started snapping away.

I love fall, I am so sad for winter to come, it seems like the shortest season :(

Joy School Halloween Party

Last week was Layton's Halloween Party for Joy School.

Walking in the costume parade.

Getting their treats.

Before all the moms get there. They helped Sarah make these cookies. They were all super excited to finally get to eat them!

Trunk - or - Treat!

We went to our wards trunk-or-treat party tonight. It was so much fun, I am so so glad that they do it and we don't have to drive all around town.
The boys were football players, Lance and I were the referee's, and Sugar was a cheerleader.
Layton's mean "otball" player face :)
Parker was so excited about all the candy!

I have a slight pajama obsession, so of course there has to be pajamas for the holiday.
