Afternoon Get-Away

Yesterday after the boys got home from school, I wanted to do something fun for them that wouldn't require much effort from me :)
So we decided to go up and play in the creek. I love living in Fillmore, we drove 5 minutes from our house and were in a whole different world. We got there around 2 and I had to make the boys leave at 6.
They played in the water and "sand", hiked around on trails, and collected acorns. I relaxed in my chair, read my kindle, and handed out snacks :) Oh, and when I got hot, I walked my swollen feet around in the water too!
...this was a perfect afternoon...

I love these boys!

First day of school!

Today was Layton's first day of Kindergarten, and Parker's first day of Preschool.

I can't believe how big they look, I mean Layton looks OLD! How did that happen?!?

... and Parker still seems so little to me, I can not imagine him in school doing big kid things. But I guess that's where we are at...

Layton was all ready to show Parker the bus and help him get to his class.

Of course I followed the bus to school. But per Layton's instructions, I did not help them off the bus or show them where their classes where. Because they know how to get there themselves!

I did go into their classes after though to get a picture with their teacher. But they were both excited to see me, and Parker said he had had fun on the bus.

Parker has Ms. Guillette (Layton had her last year and we love her!)
and Layton has Mrs. Harrison

I love these boys. I can't believe how much they have grown. I am so excited for what they are going to learn  and do this year. I know Layton especially will have so much to learn, and I can't wait to watch it happen.
Good luck this year boys, I love you so much and I am so proud of you!!!

The Back to School Fairy

While the boys were getting out of the tub and into jammies on the night before their first day of school, these packages were delivered. They opened them up and they had gotten some new school supplies and a toy. What lucky boys :)

Broken Arm...

Yesterday Layton was jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler on and a few cousins, and fell out the opening of the enclosure where it wasn't zipped up all the way. He came in the house upset and said he landed on his arm. When he showed me it was pretty obvious that it was broken. His whole arm was bent in above his wrist.
So we headed down to the emergency room. He was so brave through the whole thing and didn't cry at all. They did an x-ray and sure enough, he broke both bones in his arm! He has a splint on for a week, to give his arm room to swell and then go back down. Next week he'll get his hard cast on. I was hoping for a below the elbow cast, but no such luck :( At least its his left arm! He'll have a big story to tell the kids when he starts school next week!
He has been such a sweetheart, and so brave. I love you Layton!

Time with Daddy...

Lance works out of town monday - thursday, then friday and saturday is on the mountain all day. This week he was home a total not sleeping hours of about 2. He is great to try and spend time with the kids, even though he had already been on a horse for about 24 hours within 2 days he still stopped at our house for a few minutes to give the boys a ride. We sure love and miss him!

The 3 Musketeers

My brother's little boy Isaac is Layton and Parker's best friend. He has been up to our house lots to play this summer and Layton and Parker love every second of it.  None of them wear shirts so they look tough, and they just do funny things all day :) I heard lots of laughing and looked out the window to the boys figuring out how to "train" down the slide. We love you Isaac!
