This was the little Valentines party for Joy School.
I am mostly putting these up so that Sarah and Mackenzie can have them too. I'm sure you girls know but just right click on the picture and when it makes it's own screen left click and select "save picture as" and save it to a file on your computer.
Probably didn't need to explain that, but oh well :)

best EVER sweet potatoes!!!
I got this recipe from my sister, and who knows where she got it. But it is supposed to be the recipe that Ruth's Chris Steakhouse uses. Just that should make you want them right?!
It makes me so mad when people won't even TASTE them, come on people we are adults, lets try something new. Just because your opinion of sweet potatoes has been marred by nasty marshmellow covered disgusting kinds... it doesn't mean you won't be in LOVE with and crave these every day!
Whew!! I feel better now, had to get that off my chest!
Now the much requested recipe for the...
best EVER sweet potaoes!!!
3 cups cooked mashed potatoes
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Tsp Salt
2 beaten Eggs
1/4 cup melted margarine or butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Topping
1/3 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup margarine
pinch of salt
After mixing together, pour into a slightly greased 2 quart casserole dish
or 9x13 pan. Mix topping together
Sprinkle over top of sweet potatoes. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Enjoy.

Our Valentine's Festivities..
I love Valentines Day! We had a good one, Lance sent me this great big vase full of beautiful Lily's!
In the morning Lance took the boys with him to do chores and let me sleep in. When they got back I had their Valentines presents all ready for them. We also had pink (and heart shaped) blueberry muffins for breakfast but I didn't take a picture (gasp!)

The Amazing Race - Valentines Edition
For a fun Valentines date this year a group of girls and I planned an Amazing Race.
I had a good time, I hope everyone else did too!
The wives didn't tell our husbands anything about what we were doing. Then we all just dropped them off on the church steps all by themselves. After all 8 got there, I came around in my "amazing race mobile" and told them:
Welcome to the Amazing Race-Valentine Edition. You were each brought here by your lovely, adoring, beautiful, smart, sexy, and talented wives. Who knew you’d be up for a challenging Valentines Day adventure.
I must now take any money and wallets that you have on you. (they did not like this part :)
Here are your funds for this leg of the race… use them wisely. (they had a bag of $2 in change, mostly pennies)
Here is your video camera. You must make a video of the events and each member of the team must be in the video
Good luck Boys, here’s your first clue. You may begin the race at the sound of the whistle.
We sent them all around town.
1st to the Sunrise office, where they had to find their "uniform" (a suit, shirt, and tie) which were hidden around the office.
2nd to Family Dollar, where they had to buy their wonderful wives a gift!
3rd to Katy's Hair Salon where they were SUPPOSED to just do their hair, you know gel-comb-water. But several including my husband buzzed their hair super short or buzzed Mohawks. Tyler even had some (awesome?) steps buzzed in. Clearly I should have thought about removing all scissors and clippers...
4th to the elementary school where my mom gave them a "are you smarter than a 5th grader" test, then they made us a card.
5th they went to the high school and had to find the last clue, which was taped to the top row of the football bleachers.
Last they came to our house, where the wives had all been together making dinner.
We all had fun hanging out waiting for them.
We watched the video they made of it while we ate dinner. And I think the guys had fun too
Thanks everyone for coming, like I said, I hope you had a good time!

Love, Layton...
I few days before Lance's birthday I told Layton that it was daddy's birthday soon. Right away he said that he NEEDED to make him a card.
So he worked and worked at coloring and stapling shut (not my idea) his little card. Then he wanted to sign it. I usually have him write the L then I write the rest, but I thought that I would try to have him right it all.
So while I held his hand to steady it, but wasn't moving his hand for him. I would say "wright an A, it's a circle with a line, now write a T, a line with a cross..." for his whole name.
He did such a good job, I didn't even know that he could do it.
Layton sure gives me heartburn sometimes, but I love him to death and can't believe that I have such a sweet and special little boy.
(the first line is the first L his wrote, after he saw it he said "oh no, I need to start over" and then wrote another L next to it :)

Jazz Game
For Lance's birthday present from me I took him to dinner and then to a Jazz game. Normally our date nights consist of my parents watching the kids while we hang out at home eating leftovers and watching tv together, so I figured I would branch out a little! :)
We had great seats, and the Jazz won, so that made it even better. Happy Birthday huners, I Love You!
