Layton realizes for he first time that he could probably climb out of the cart on his own and of course does so as fast as he can, When Parker saw him he asked Layton to help him out too. So being the helpful brother that he is, Layton grabbed Parker around the waist and tried to lift him out of the cart.
Anyone with eyes can see that Parker probably only weighs 5 pounds less that Layton so 35lbs vs 30 isn't good odds :) Of course, as Layton was standing on the ground lifting Parker out of the basket of the cart he tipped over backwards hitting his own head, and Parker fell forward hitting his forehead (from the height of a shopping cart) on the title floor of the store.
It all takes a long time to explain, but I swear that it started to happen as I was writing out the check, and by the time I realized Parker was about to fall it was like .2 seconds later. I ran over and picked up Parker who is crying hysterically and try to console Layton who is also crying his eyes out. And then...
Parker starts throwing up all over, he is an easy gager and a bump on the head makes him throw up every time. I should have known it was coming...
Meanwhile, you should have seen the high school girls who were the checkers, they just sat there with shocked faces and handed me paper towels. I am positive that I added 5 years onto the amount of time before they want to have kids of their own :)
Poor Parker came home and got a "boo-boo buddy" they are little gel ice packs that are in the shape of penguins. I keep them in the freezer for times like this (which is about once a day :)
Ahh, Duanes... You are a necessary evil. We need food, but it is such torture to go.
Pretty sure I will be making all grocery store trips while the kids are at a babysitter from now on!

oh my heck..poor parker! i'm glad he is ok! i have respect for any mom(or dad) that can shop with multiple kids...it's so hard with just brielle, i can't imagine adding to it! :) you are smart to keep ice packs on hand..i need to invest in some!
Awe! The poor teens. :) Heehee. No, I think they'll be fine. :) What a crazy happening! I don't blame you for being flustered over it, but it probably would have happened to me too. You're a great mom!
I don't think I ever understood what a challenge it was too shop with kids till I had them - and they became toddlers! The biggest treat in the world to so shopping alone - or with Chad so he can maintain the demons:)
I so know what u mean!
Trust me, I have had plenty of mishaps at Duanes! I hate shopping with the kids!
