Boy Wonder and Park Man!!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Layton is Robin for Halloween this year. We call him Boy Wonder because he is Lance's little sidekick. ( I haven't ever seen Batman but they tell me that Batman calls Robin Boy wonder?)

He loves his costume, I didn't think that he would wear the face mask but he wanted it on and didn't ever touch it.

Batman and Robin

Since he was born we have called Parker "Park Man" I even would sing him the batman song but say Park Man instead. The costumes really were a perfect fit this year.

Parker is such a cute little Batman, with the black background you can't see his little bat ears.

Amanda Peterson did these pictures along with the last photo shoot, I have just been waiting to post them until Halloween. Isn't Layton funny, you can tell that he loves his costume.

On the Mountain

We just got these pictures, this is what Lance has been doing all summer. Our cows pasture on the mountain fpr the summer and the upkeep is time consuming. It was a solid week in June, then every friday all summer, and two solid weeks this October. Lance really enjoys it though. Thats what he gets paid the big bucks for right? :) He has kind of gotten away from the cowboy scene lately but he will always be one at heart.

Big Boy

Lance started pushing Parker around in Layton's car the other day. I would never ever have thought to do it, I guess I still just want to think of him as a little baby. But... he isn't. He wants to be so big, and has gotten really frustrated that he can't run around with Layton.

He was so excited about riding in the car, and it is one of his favorite things to do now.

Rush Valley

Yesterday we went to Rush Valley to visit Lance's family. Our friend Jamie was also in town so we got some family pictures in also. As usual I don't feel like we got any good pictures, but I am always pleasantly surprised, I am excited to see them. Thanks Jamie
We had a really good visit with Lance's family, Grandpa Vance and Grandma Betty, along with Kim and Rio were all there for lunch. It was so good to see everybody and catch up.
After pictures Grandpa Dennis took Layton for a ride on the lawn mower, Layton loves lawn mowers and could stay on all day! Thanks for the great visit Dennis and Jerri.

Sagers Excavation

We are making the big change from Lance running a branch of J&A, to starting our own company, Sagers Excavation. Seeing as it is such an excellent economic time and coming up on a really great construction time of year :) well, in spite of all that we are optimistic but nervous. Lance is rivaling my dad with his worrying but we feel good about it. Lance has been working a ton but having to travel out of town a little, I hope the traveling slows down but I guess we take the work that we can get, huh?

Lance had been driving a J&A truck for a couple years so we didn't have a work truck for him. So we bought this truck last week.

Notice Layton in the backhoe, he is pretty much a permenant fixture there.

The trailer and backhoe are rentals but hopefully that can be our next big purchase.

Carving Pumpkins

Last night we had my nieces and nephews come up to carve pumpkins. All of these pumpkins are home grown, some are from our garden and some from Scott and Nancy's. The kids all had a lot of fun and were very excited about the pumpkins and Halloween!

Layton chose a bat for himself and a ghost for Parker.

Parker loved his pumpkin

Everyone is working hard, notice Parker eating the pumpkin guts before anyone could stop him :)

Ohhh, spooky. Layton cried when he saw this.

The finished products!

Halloween Party

Our friend Mackenzie threw a Halloween party for the friends of her little boy Logan. Layton and Logan have kind of a love/hate relationship but Mackenzie and I are determined that they will be friends.
Anyway, she did such a great job and everything turned out really well. There were about 20 kids and they all had a lot of fun.

This is the whole group.

They made pumpkins.

Decorated cookies.

Parker was so good and played on the grass with Layton's bouncy ghost that he made and loved!

Layton tried to share the candy with Parker.

Thanks Mackenzie, Layton loved it and everybody had a great time!

Baby Einstein

Parker loves the Baby Einstein movies. Tonight he was fussy and Lance was watching him while I was scrap booking. He turned on Baby Einstein and... Parker stopped crying and just watched. Who knows how long he would have watched, we distracted him while taking pictures. Layton never liked TV until about 18 months. I don't let either of them watch very often but isn't this so cute?

Mowing the Lawn

Lance was watching the boys for me tonight while I was cleaning up the house and even though it was dark outside he just can't stand to not be doing something. So he got the boys coats and started mowing the lawn. Parker just loves it and sits quietly and so still that you think he might be asleep, but he isn't. He's just watching. Layton is daddy's big helper and either has to ride in the backpack or help push. And because Lance had Parker in the snuugli tonight, Layton helped to push this time. What funny boys I have.

Esme? And... Midnight Sun!!!

This is fun, I am excited for the movie. You better belive I will be at the midnight showing.
Also, I heard awhile ago that Stephanie Meyer had strated writing a 5th book. Called Midnight Sun. It is Twilight... from Edwards perspective. But at the halfway mark she distributed it to a few trusted readers to get some input and one of them leaked it out, she was very upset and decided not to finish writting the book. I HATE when people ruin things for everybody. But on her website she talks about it and gives the link and permision to read the half that was leaked out. Here is that link. http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html
I haven't started reading it yet, it is over 200 pages and it is just online. I need to get a few solid hours of computer time set aside so I can read it. So I don't know how it is, but you know it has to be great!

A Mickey Mouse Birthday Party!!!

On Sunday We had Layton's birthday party. He had been very sick for a week and we almost called it off, but he started feeling a little better on Saturday so we went ahead. He did great, considering the week he had before. Layton loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so that was the theme and he was super excited about it.

I made a mickey mouse cake, he wanted it all day and was so happy to finally have some.

He wasn't sure what to think about everybody singing happy birthday.

It took a few tries, but he got both of his candles blown out!

Finally, eating the birthday cake!

The kids all took turns hitting the pinata

Opening presents.

The big haul.

Even Parker got a present form Grandma Jerri and Grandpa Dennis!
Thank You so much to everybody who came and who sent gifts. Your support and the effort of coming to Layton's party really means a lot to me. I know I probably make to big of a deal about the party but I just want it to be a special day for Layton. Thanks again everybody!

I don't know where the time has gone, but I am so thankful for the years we have had with Layton and I can't wait for the years to come. We love you buddy!

Hard Workin' Man

This week Lance has been working up on the mountain. They got a state and federal grant for an improvement project on the 6 ponds that provide water for our cows all summer. So Lance has been working on that
He has had several problems. One was that trackhoes don't run well in high altitude (who knew?) he just ran it for the first three days going walking speed, then today he put in an altitude air intake valve and he got more done yesterday than he did in the last three days combined.
He has been clear up on top of the mountain tracking from pond to pond. One of the forest service guys clocked him and he has already gone over 17 miles. That's an extremely long way to go in a trackhoe. And he isn't even done yet!
He was out in the open for a split second so I took these pictures from a spot on the road about 3/4 of the way up the mountain, and he is still so far up you can barely even see him. I wish I could be up there to follow him around, its like some robot movie or something. To get to the ponds there are only cow trails that are about 1 foot wide so he has to knock over trees and stuff to get through.
Anyway, lance is having fun now that the machine is running well again, and the cows will have water next summer, plus he is actually getting paid to do it all. Win Win right?

This is on the very tippy top. The blue trackhoe blends in with the sky, but he is in the shaded spot, the pond is just on the other side of the ridge.

Same spot, just close up, to prove there is really a trackhoe up there :)

6 months already?

I know everybody says it, but it is because its so true. Where did the time go? Parker is 6 months old today, half a year. It has really seemed like a few weeks. I remember when I was little, thinking that weeks, months, and especially years went by so slow. Now I am wishing that they would slow down a little (or a lot).
Parker is getting so big, and has such a sweet little personality and a funny sense of humor. We love you Park Man!

a... Perk? of the terrible twos

Layton will be turning two a on the 13th and we are already in full blown terrible twos. But when he throws a fit, I usually just ignore it and this is what has been happening...

Look for the silver lining right?

Conference Weekend

This Saturday of conference weekend Lance had to work all day, but was able to take Layton with for some of the day. So I stayed home with Parker and watched conference. I thought both sessions were really good, I especially enjoyed Brother Worthlin's talk. And I am excited about the announcement of the new temples being built. Especially in Rome, I am sure it will be beautiful.
Then on Sunday we went down to my parents to watch it with them. My brother is out of town, but my sister-in-law and her 6 kids came over to watch conference with us also. My mom
(who I have to brag about, this year she was teacher of the year for our school district, and one of 6 finalists for the state teacher of the year)
any way, she got out all the art stuff for the kids. So they set at the table and were entertained for quite awhile with that.

Parker played in my niece's jumper and had a blast. We might have to get him one, then maybe I could get something done. :)

My mom made a very yummy big breakfast for us all, and a few different kinds of soups with bread for lunch. My mom makes the BEST homemade soups. I am never any help because I am always holding Parker. (Thanks for everything mom!)

The reason we were at my parents was because they are getting new carpet through the whole house this week, so after conference Lance helped my dad move all the furniture off the carpet, which was no small job. But, we had a really nice day. I always love conference weekend!
